The streets seem so much wider back then before they added bike lanes.

Taking me back. I lived in Oak Park up until the summer of ‘76. And it will always be the Sears Tower to me. My love of aviation was sparked at O’Hare. My parents were divorced, and I lived with my mom. My brother and I would fly back to VA to see our dad at least once a year, and after we moved to VA to live with him, we flew back to Chicago to visit our mom. I passed through ORD many times, and was always fascinated by the size and the activity of the place. I grew to love airports. We got snowed in one year, when ORD was closed for three days. We spent the night in the airport. What a blast. I probably wouldn’t be so thrilled now, but as a kid, it was a huge adventure. There was a bar, it may still be there, called the Seven Continents, where you could sit in leather chairs, have a drink (Shirley Temple, please) and watch the airplanes. It was great.

I’ve lived in the Chicago area all my life. I don’t know a single person who calls it anything but the Sears Tower.

My brother bought me the Willis Tower Lego set for my birthday. It came with a sticker that said “Willis Tower” and I refused to put it on.

Yup! It’s always Sears. Just like Macys will always be Marshall Field(s).

I live in NY and I still call it the Sears Tower, hell, I didn’t even know they changed it until I went to the damn building.

Sorta like this one park they changed the name of in my town. It was East Park forever then they changed it to Washington Square, pretty much everyone but the people I go to school with calls it East Park still.
